Good Men Are Heroes July 1, 2014. © Talon Truitt Cherry, All rights reserved Every thing I've learned to date is a journal of my life. Lessons on each empty page for the times that I asked why. You'd come through that door each night looking like you'd seen the worst. But somewhere in that hardened stare I read these perfect words. Sometimes a good man feels awfully far from home, And even a good man can't always face the cold wind when it blows. But he will hold tight, because all nights will soon be tomorrow, And he'll make sure that you see, good men are hero's. Years went by, and I grew old enough to hold my own. Lessons that you taught made sure I'd never feel alone. But life's got a funny way of making sure you never win. Just before I closed that book for good, I read these words again. Sometimes a good man feels awfully far from home, And even a good man can't always face the cold wind when it blows. But he will hold tight, because all nights will soon be tomorrow, And he'll make sure that you see, good men are hero's. Many nights have passed by since I held that loaded gun. Life might not be crystal stairs, but you only get one. Each night I walk that front porch looking like I've seen the worst. And as I stand there on my trembling knees I wear those perfect words. Sometimes a good man feels awfully far from home, And even a good man can't always face the cold wind when it blows. But he will hold tight, because all nights will soon be tomorrow, And he'll make sure that you see, good men are hero's.
