Fade To Taps July 31, 2009. © Talon Truitt Cherry, All rights reserved The Anthem plays loud in the background Crowds of people cheer and clap The patriots sing halleluiah As America sounds its next attack Back from silence, blind with furry Too blurry eyed to face the facts The weight of war crushes our soldiers The Anthem stops and fades to taps Body bags of cost soon fallow Victory cannot soon subside The pain behind a mothers sorrow When she finds her son has died The wicked truth revealed tomorrow A bitter day when angels cry How long it lasts this time we barrow You see it now our leaders lie Black our hearts, now filled with anger Danger lurks in angers grasp This new realities hard swallow In time of sorrow our Anthems back Back from silence, blind with furry Too blurry eyed to face the facts The weight of war crushes our soldiers The Anthem stops and fades to taps Sound the bugle! The war is over We lost the purpose, and the fight Overthrown by our own creation This new agenda is not right Break free the people were the power Use your voice, bring forth the might Bestowed on us by our founding fathers Erase the demons, restore the light If no one stands the war still wages Words like mine slip through the cracks Body bags build through the ages Cages hold our people back Stack the bodies in our backyard Its our fault they die and that’s the facts Face them now you “patriot”! Or replace our anthem with bitter taps
