Dear Father July 29, 2009. © Talon Truitt Cherry, All rights reserved Dear Father It seams growing up is getting harder Barter time for our tempers That were always growing hotter Never bothered to talk then Caught up in the anger Damn the danger of our whirl wind And Father Sometimes it feels like we both lost Butting heads over issues Tears and tissues were the post cost And then I couldn’t understand Your demand for respect Only prepared me as a man My Father Taught me the meaning of true pride When ya caught me slippin Put a whippin to my backside At times I wanted to hit ya But now my life’s a perfect picture And for that much I should kiss ya Father You have doubts cause i'm movin But you’re the one who taught me Have faith in what I'm chosin Live my life by my pages Only continuing your story Growing wiser through the ages Relax Father Today I stand my own man Molded by our anger and our love I know you understand And even though its hard to take it I wrote this poem just to let you know You are appreciated
