Dear America July 29, 2009. © Talon Truitt Cherry, All rights reserved Dear America, Life seems so much like a dream these days. The hope we all had for our nation slowly slips away, and the dream that was once America has fallen to corruption and decay. A product of the roll the senate plays. Oh America! I long for the nightmare to be done. I wait peacefully in the dark you cast me to and pray for light. Through the night I cry, but all along I hold tight, To the dream that was once America, the one, America. Why have you forsaken it for this new chaos sensation? This dream so fragile, so pure, that to speak of it brought war. The core of our people forgotten, freedom now torn! We can't even see beyond the blindfold of our own administrations! God save America! If it is right for you to do, The red, white, and blue so faded these days. The hope we all had for our nation slowly slips away. The dream that was once America has fallen to corruption and decay. A product of the roll the senate plays. America... Now slips quietly into the night. Not a sound as the sleeping dragon lies Our cries fall on def ears our words of truth censored Pandora’s box closed with only hope inside And the last thought of America dies Within the fading echo of a story, A fairy tale. Once called… America.
