A Prayer August 19, 2009. © Talon Truitt Cherry, All rights reserved Lord I wear a cross in your name, but take no religion from it A nameless faith I keep so that others may not judge it. Each night I go to bed I pray you lord my soul to keep. Leaping faith with every word I speak, and each request I seek. Break me free from the shackles of tomorrow, but let not my ignorance subside. So that I might bask in its bliss before my sorrow breaks me down with pride. Let not my age cage my spirit, let not my spirit damn my soul. Temptations blessed my spirits wishes, but this is not my souls goal. I come to you hungry and tired, but I ask not for food or sleep. Instead lift my spirits higher, give my food to those in need, And my sleep to anyone week. Please crush the wicked, and not the man its beaded in. Lead my brothers to victory over the devil who lead it in don’t let them let it in. And if I die before I wake, this humble soul is yours to take, Make no mistake But Id rather die after I wake in company of friends I make Drinking beer out by the lake These are my wishes for heaven sake In Jesus’ name Amen
