The Song of My Life July 13, 2014. © Talon Truitt Cherry, All rights reserved There's a brown leather wallet, that I keep full of all of my time. From my front right pocket, you could measure my seconds in dimes. Every memory spent, on another red cent, taking place of the faces and places I went. There'll be no more of this, endless listlessness bliss, taking form in the pages I write! It’s not that the life I lead can't coexist, with the things you find wrong and find right. But I can't for the life of me make since of this, continuous misconstrued fight. The monotony's got to me I'm leaving the mist, that's been covering life and its light. So sing me a song of the things that I've missed, and I'll sing you the song of my life. It’s starting today! It’s starting today! There's an old man calling, but he's not ganna find me tonight. I'm a young man falling, but it’s my fall to take, and to fight. Nothing in front of me, there's no sea I can't see, breaking free from the things they all taught me to be. There'll be no more of this, obligational shift, telling me what my life should be like! There's a shooting star falling, but I'll pocket its wish for the time. In my front right pocket, where I kept all my seconds and dimes. Every memory spent, on those bloody red cents, share a space with the faces and places I went. There'll be no more of this, endless wishing for bliss, I'll make life work for me this time! Today I will find myself writing a list, of the things I find wrong and find right. Since I can't for the life of me make since of this, I will rid myself now of its blight. It’s amazing what life can bring, without all the mist, a midst all its shimmering light When you've finished your song of the things that I've missed, I'll sing you this song of my life. It’s starting today.
