Goodnight Liberty December 18, 2011. © Talon Truitt Cherry, All rights reserved Can you hear it? The bugle's crying out The war is over now Freedom in the sound of clanging chains Can you see it? The ashes falling down The walls are crumbling now Black and white surround Liberty's remains Can you feel it? The weight within your crown we breath and still we drown the water lost the found and blind remain America the free land of liberty, home of the true and the brave Fighting wars for a freedom that we barely see, over seas with our warrior slaves Poverty’s the gun screaming soldiers run, there is no sun on the path that we pave and my heart screams I'm done when a mother and son spend fathers day by a grave My god! Can you hear it? The bugle sounding out a thousand cries so loud It brings the walls around down in blazing flames Can you see it? The ashes make no sound covering endless ground lost and never found liberties remains Oh can't you feel it? The soldiers falling down you point your finger now Our orders handed down By crown less kings America the fairy tale of liberty ring the bell from sea to shining sea Hear the sound of liberty within our fading cries, and lies that fed the lives to the machine A country built in infamy a symphony of violence tyrants lead the silent revelry and in the end the silence broke the endless reign of violence when liberty herself was put to sleep.
