Finding Home July 30, 2015. © Talon Truitt Cherry, All rights reserved Brace yourself for a bitter ending, Forever’s curse is its damned pretending! There’s nothing else to say, I just have to go. Eighteen and the worlds still spinning, The ending here is a new beginning. I love you mom and dad, I hope you know. I’ve packed my bags, and they’re sitting by the door. I see your eyes, I’ve had to say good bye, but not like this before. I’m leaving home, I’m gone today, Nothing you say can change it, Your plea will be in vain. I’m leaving home, I’m on my way, Though it feels like all is lost, I’ll be ok. I’m just leaving home. Another rear view heartache to take, Alcohol induced new roommates! Screaming shut the door, but no one’s there. Another year passed press on just fake, the emptiness inside is a mistake! There’s nothing that can break you if you never share. Ten letters closed, are stacked up by the door. Every year gone by, is another high, and read just like before. Please come back home, Just leave today, Nothing between us changes, Your fears have been in vain. I know this road, Son its ok, Though it feels like all is lost, There is no shame. In coming home. Fifty years have passed since that day, I made it home not one day too late, And here I lay again ready to leave. Children watching on in heartache, Try to find the right words to say! I’ve been here once before and now I see. I’ve packed my bags and they’re sitting by the door. I see your eyes, I’ve had to say good bye, just like this before. I’m going home, I leave today, Nothing you say will change it, Your plea will be in vain. I’m going home, I’m on my way, Though it feels like all is lost, You’ll be ok. I’m just going home. When you make it home, When you find your way, Nothing between us changes, Your fears will be in vain. Know you’re my home, It’s been that way, When it feels like all is lost, Just call my name! I’ll be at home. In the ides of everything
