A Man July 29, 2009. © Talon Truitt Cherry, All rights reserved I’m a sad song, don’t get me wrong. Not a long song, I'll be done before too long. I’m a bad man, with a golden hand. Not rich man, But rich enough to stand, and I’m a short frown, under the crown. Not a sad frown, But I will let you down. Time and time again. I will make you hurt, I will make you bleed. You can never see me though your looking right at me. I won't let you any closer knowing what I am. I’m a man. I’m the country side, swollen with pride. Not the good side, inside my people cry. I’m the city, dirty and gritty. Not a pretty city, still somewhere inside is me, and I’m the ground, Found earthly bound. Not the cold ground, but still I let you down. Time and time again. I will make you cry, I will make you scream. I will laugh as your frustrated fury bounces off of me. I won't let you stand knowing what I am. I’m a man. Now I end this sad song, Its been too long. So long to all the ones I bid so wrong. I’m still the bad man, melt down my hand. I'll be the rich man, no longer can I stand, and I wear this tired frown, heavy is the crown. Now a sad frown because I have let you down Time and time again. I won't let you in I won't let you see All the pain and anger that is bedding down in me I would rather die than ever see you cry I lie to you simply because I Am a man.
